Who Are George & Martha?
About Martha
Born and bred in the South, I’m a straight, twenty-something female who has lived in the D.C. area for about four years. In the interest of full disclosure - I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a dating expert. However, I have been on (what feels like) thousands of dates since I first moved to D.C., so I do have a backlog of entertaining incidents and observations to share. And while I’m not a therapist, counselor, or psychiatrist...all this dating has sent me to one.
It’s tough being single. It can be a bummer when all your friends are getting hitched and a source of embarrassment at family functions. I want Chasing Wooden Teeth to empower and inspire those of us who are flying solo...Whenever you feel like you are the only single one left, remember Martha and your fellow singletons in the District...this is your place!
Over two hundred years after George Washington wooed Martha with a set of wooden canines, America’s capital still bristles with legendary love stories. From Presidents and First Ladies to interns and airport bathroom stalls, Washington, D.C. remains a melting pot of egos, sin, and love. Follow us - George and Martha - as we brave the dating scene on both sides of the Potomac and chase new tales of wooden passion.

About George
Born in Hampshire and raised in Chelsea, George is a man in possession of a good fortune who is, obviously, in want of a husband. He considers Mr. Willoughby’s egregious lack of propriety towards Marianne nothing of significance and blames the entire debacle on the Dashwood girl’s middling wardrobe. He has heard whispers in town that the once felicitous marriage to Miss Grey will be over by Michaelmas, and has arranged to have Mrs. Woodhouse-Knightley push him down Primrose Hill on the next rainy day, straight into Willoughby’s arms. Following their surreptitious wedding in France, he plans to use Miss Grey’s leftover 50,000 pounds to redecorate Allenham and buy a Barouche.
In the meantime, George is typically found sitting in an espresso-filled café in the Washington D.C. area - reading, drinking, and reminding himself that he was in fact born in the American Midwest.
